Description

The Last Ship

Written, composed by and starring international music icon Sting, THE LAST SHIP makes its long-awaited Southern Hemisphere debut at QPAC’s magnificent Glasshouse Theatre.

Inspired by Sting’s childhood in Wallsend, UK, this deeply personal musical tells the story of a proud shipbuilding community confronting the closure of the shipyard that defines their lives. As livelihoods vanish and traditions are threatened, past and future collide in a powerful exploration of loss, dignity, belonging and hope.

Sting takes to the stage as Jackie White, drawing audiences into a world shaped by love, resilience and hard-won solidarity. From raw folk melodies and rousing choral anthems to intimate, aching ballads, his evocative score forms the beating heart of this moving production.

Poignant, powerful and profoundly human, THE LAST SHIP is a stirring musical odyssey about what we build, what we lose, and the ties that refuse to be broken.

If you’d like, I can also:

  • make this more ticketing-driven (shorter, punchier)

  • dial it more epic or more intimate

  • write a one-line hook or hero banner

  • or align it tightly with QPAC house style
